The tap-to-play campaign companion for 5th Edition
Every feature, in one place
A full list of what TokenTap5e does, grouped by where it shows up at the table. Each feature is marked with the plan it comes on.
Tokens and coins
- Item tokens. An injection molded housing with an acrylic window over a printed TokenTab that carries the NFC tag. Black and white housings show up at every rarity, so the outside gives nothing away. All plans
- Hero, NPC and Enemy coins. One inch coins engraved by role and sized to sit under a miniature base. All plans
- Runs in the browser. A tap loads a web page, on iPhone or Android. All plans
- Reusable. The DM can point any token at something new in seconds, and the TokenTab label takes dry erase. All plans
- Write-protected tags. Every tag is set before it ships and can't be rewritten. What a tap shows is controlled from the DM Portal. All plans
Magic items
The library holds 1,617 magic items across the official SRD and the supported third party books. Pick one and the full write up rides on the token: rarity, description, attunement, charges and how they recharge, and an estimated value in platinum, gold, electrum, silver and copper. When a player taps it, they can claim it into their character's inventory and attune to it from the card.
Four twists on any item
- Unidentified. Players see an unknown magic item with its rarity and price withheld, while you see the real thing on the same card. Lift it when someone casts Identify or works it out. All plans
- Cursed. Nothing looks wrong at first. The curse only shows itself to the player who attunes, and Remove Curse is the way out. DM Pro
- Puzzle locked. A tap brings up your riddle, not the item. Answers are checked on our server, so nobody can dig the solution out of the page. DM Pro
- Stolen. The card is flagged as stolen goods. Good for a fence who will pay less, a guard who recognizes it, or an owner who comes looking. All plans
- Homebrew items. Write your own item from scratch, with your own text, charges and value. DM Pro
- Shops that run themselves. Load a table of priced items and let the party browse by tapping, while you step back in only to close a sale or haggle. All plans
Threat levels
Any enemy can carry a threat level, set by the DM. It changes what happens the moment a player taps that enemy's coin. Each level can also play an introduction you write, so the creature arrives with your words rather than a stat block. All plans
- NoneThe enemy card shows as normal.
- CautionThe card shows with a warning line. Your introduction plays first if you wrote one.
- DangerousA warning screen plays before the card, or your introduction plays in its place.
- DeadlyA full sequence of its own. The name, stat block and hit points stay behind a veil until the DM lifts it.
Deadly is for the fight the party should think twice about. They know it is bad. They do not know what it is. You decide when they find out.
Combat
- Combat Manager. Initiative order, hit points and conditions for every creature in the fight, in one drawer on the DM's screen. DM Pro
- Combatant NPCs. Allies and neutral NPCs who join a fight get their own hit points and a place in the order. DM Pro
- Stat blocks included. 2,455 creatures across every supported book, with full actions and traits. All plans
- The player's combat drawer. HP, death saves, spell slots, class resources, hit dice and rests on the player's own phone. Player Pro
- Death saves by the book. Full 5e rules, and when a hero falls, the table chooses how the story goes on: Rise Again, Rest in Peace or Begin a New Chapter. Player Pro
Your world
- Both editions. Each campaign runs on D&D 5e (2014) or the 2024 rules, chosen by the DM. One DM can run both side by side. All plans
- Third party books. Level Up Advanced 5e Monstrous Menagerie from EN Publishing, and Tome of Beasts 1 to 3, Creature Codex and Vault of Magic from Kobold Press. Each is its own toggle, per campaign. DM Pro
- The Codex. Locations, factions, lore and the NPCs who live there, kept in one place the party can read as you reveal it. Players can leave their own notes on NPCs. All plans
- The BBEG. Mark your antagonist, and the Chronicle records when the party first learned who was behind it all. DM Pro
- Campaigns. One campaign on the free plan, as many as you like on DM Pro. DM Pro
- Image uploads. Portraits for heroes and NPCs, and pictures in journal entries. DM Pro
For players
- Guests. Tap any token with no account at all and see what the DM has revealed. All plans
- A free character. One character, a personal journal, session history and the party's codex. Player Free
- The full sheet. Saves, skills, AC and feats, multiple characters, and no ads. Player Pro
- Party Plan. When the DM is on the Party Plan, every player in the campaign gets Player Pro at no extra cost. Party Plan
The story
- Sessions and the DM log. Log what happened each night while it is still fresh. All plans
- Player journals. Each entry has its own privacy: private, shared with the DM, or sealed until the campaign ends. All plans
- Party polls. Close a session with a vote for MVP, best Nat 20, biggest Nat 1, best roleplay, smartest play and most lethal. All plans
- The Campaign Chronicle. A page shared by link that tells the whole run: arcs, chapters, the heroes, the fallen, the villains, journal entries the players chose to share, and a closing letter from the DM. No login to read it. DM Pro
- The Campaign Crest. An engraved keepsake with the party name and every hero, with an NFC tag inside that opens the Chronicle when tapped. Coming soon
In the works: the Dungeon Director
Ambience that follows the game. Rain when the party is out in a storm, a tavern when they walk into one, and the room changing when a fight starts. It runs off what the DM is already tracking, so there is no soundboard to manage mid session. Coming soon
