What is TokenTap5e

The tablehas weight again.

Small NFC tokens sit on the table, coins under your miniatures. Tap one with your phone and it tells you what it is: an item to claim, a hero to bind, a stranger to name. The campaign builds itself around what you touched, and the piece stays where the DM put it.

An open TokenTap5e Core Pack on a table, sixteen NFC item tokens, hang rings and engraved hero, NPC and enemy coins seated in a molded tray, the lid engraved with Grab a Token. Tap it. Keep it.
Everything seated in its own cut. What the party has not found yet waits in the box until the DM hands it out.

Built to be handled

A molded shell, an acrylic window and a printed TokenTab that carries the tag. The TokenTab slides in from the base and clicks home with the hang tab proud of the top. Press down on it and the whole cartridge comes back out, which is how a token moves to a new campaign.

One tap, no app. The token opens its item the moment it touches the phone.

What is on the table

The tokens

Four kinds, one tap each

Item tokens are the premium pieces. Hero, NPC and enemy coins are engraved by role and sit under a miniature. Tap any of them and it gives up exactly what the DM prepared, and nothing they did not.

At the table Every piece stays where the DM put it.

Four thousand creatures and magic items, already written up

Prep is where campaigns quietly die. Search the library, pick what the party finds, and the whole stat block rides on the token before they reach for it. 2,455 creatures and 1,617 magic items, and not one of them typed by you.

Not every item is what it seems.

All plans

Unidentified

The player gets an unknown magic item with its rarity hidden. You see its true identity on the same card, and reveal it once they have identified it.

DM Pro

Cursed

It looks like any other item until someone attunes to it. Then the curse lands, with its details shown only to that player, and only Remove Curse lifts it.

DM Pro

Puzzle

The token opens on your riddle instead of the item. Nothing is revealed until someone at the table gives the right answer.

All plans

Stolen

The item card carries a stolen mark, so whoever taps it knows it came out of someone else’s pocket, and that someone may want it back.

Two sides of the same table

One token, two jobs.

The DM prepares what a token holds. The player finds out by touching it. Neither one needs the other's screen.

For the DM

You decide what a token holds, and when it stops being a secret.

Assign an item, a hero or an NPC to a token before the session. Set it on the table when the moment comes. What the party learns is what you have chosen to reveal, and nothing more.

What you do

  • 01Load a token with an item, a face or a place from the codex.
  • 02Put it under a miniature and let the party notice it.
  • 03Track the fight while the table rolls its own dice.
  • 04Publish the chronicle when the campaign ends.

The Crown Jewel

Your campaign, kept

Most campaigns end and then quietly stop existing. Someone remembers the dragon, nobody remembers the innkeeper, and a year later the whole thing is three anecdotes and a lot of shrugging. The chronicle is the version that survives, written out of the sessions the DM already logged rather than assembled afterward. It stays up whether or not anyone keeps paying. Nothing to export, nothing to lose when the group chat dies.

A campaign chronicle showing an arc title, a chapter, and the NPCs and heroes tied to it

The Campaign Chronicle

A page shared by link that renders the whole run: arcs, chapters, key moments, the NPCs who shaped it, and the heroes who did not make it to the end. It grows every session. Send the link to your party, or to the people who kept asking what happened. No login to read it.

One is already written. The Hound & Hatchets Co. ran five chapters, lost people along the way, and their DM left a letter at the end.

A hexagonal Campaign Crest on an easel, standing on a shelf among dice, miniatures and potion bottles. The upper half is dark marbled resin engraved in gold with the party name Fellowship of the Bling, the lower half is engraved wood listing seven character names.
And when it is over, the Campaign Crest is the version you can hold. Cut once the story ends, party name above every character who walked it, with an NFC tag set inside. Ten years from now, tap the crest on your shelf and the whole chronicle opens. No page to remember, no link to find, no password. Tales told together. Legends kept forever.

What arrives

Sixteen tokens. Sixteen coins. One box.

The Core Pack carries sixteen item tokens in a reusable case and sixteen flat coins for your heroes, the people they meet and the things they fight. It runs a table of four through a campaign without rationing, legendaries included. The Expansion Pack is sixteen more tokens with no coins, because you already have those, plus a seven piece polyhedral dice set in the same black, white and gold. Buy both and you are holding thirty two tokens: eight each of common, uncommon and rare, six very rare, two legendary.

Start here, and you are done. This is a complete kit for a party of four, legendaries included. The coins come once, because they recycle: an enemy coin is goblins this week and cultists next week, and a hero coin stays bound for the whole campaign. Items are the ones that keep landing.

Seven polyhedral dice in black, white and gold

Polyhedral dice7

An expansion, not a starting point. No coins, no legendaries, no filler you already own. Sixteen more tokens on the table at once, for a bigger party, a longer campaign, or a DM who is tired of clearing a token to load the next one. The second tray slot carries a full seven piece polyhedral set, d4 through d20, in black and white with gold numbers.

Every box ships in a balanced mix of black and white token housings, eight of each, split evenly across every rarity. Both colors appear at every tier, so a housing on the table tells a player nothing about what is inside it until they tap.

The Core Pack open and seen straight on, sixteen NFC item tokens in black and white housings, hang rings and two stacks of engraved coins in the tray, the lid engraved with Grab a Token. Tap it. Keep it.

Expansion Pack. Sixteen tokens and a seven piece dice set.

Same box. Same price. Different second slot. Core fills it with sixteen miniature coins. Expansion fills it with a seven piece polyhedral set. Everything else in the two packs is identical.

Five TokenTap5e miniature coins on a wooden table. Three stand upright showing their laser-engraved faces: the TokenTap5e wordmark over a d20 divider, marked Hero, Enemy and NPC. Two lie flat showing the back, with TokenTap5e engraved twice around the rim.

Common Questions

Good questions. Here are the answers.

Do I need the tokens?

Yes. The tap is the whole idea, so TokenTap5e is made for tables playing in person with real pieces.

Do players need an account?

No. Anyone can tap and see what the DM has revealed. An account adds a character, and Player Pro adds the full sheet.

Will my phone read them?

If it can pay at a card reader, almost certainly. The setup guide shows where to tap on each kind of phone.

Where do I get the tokens?

From the Reforged & Refined shop on Etsy, opening soon. The app is live now, so you can set up a campaign before the box arrives.

Put something in their hand this Saturday.

The tokens ship as a set. The app is the part that remembers what you did with them.
